Summer Bucket List

Last year we decided we were going to wing it. No plans for summer but to have fun. We had fun, but we didn't do much. Slept in, skipped breakfast, swam a few times but we didn't really do anything. When summer ended, we regretted not doing more, so this year we have a bucket list.  And you know, I think we can get it all in before the first bell rings in August.

There are a lot of fun things on here.  Some I am looking forward to more than others.

Visit: A new state park. The boys and I love exploring and somewhere new is always exciting.

Make: Fire without matches. I haven't done this since I was back home, a little tipsy and on a uninhabited island in the middle of the ocean.  Long story short, it's been a while and well, I like fire.

Give: Fill a little library. Our community doesn't have one, but I know one that does.  The first time I saw one I thought it was a bird house, but then I saw that there were books in it.  BOOKS! I have a few to take next time we head that way.

Days/Nights: Shark Week. Its the best part of summer. Well one of them anyways. It's the week that the TV stays on all day even when we aren't watching. Sharks, sharks and more sharks. What's not to love.

Im also looking forward to the sunrises and sunsets.  If they are in the same day, even better.  Anthony begged for a hot dog eating contest but then he remembered he doesn't like hotdogs, so we went with the watermelon. Im most worried about the kids cooking us dinner. Not because of safety or sanitary reasons, Im just worried they will pick something crazy to make. I told them, as long as it was in the budget, I would buy the ingredients and help only if they need me to.

What are some things that remind you of you summers as a kid?  I always think of Clearly Canadian, Jolly ranchers and the smell of early mornings. And of course the beach, but I have not seen water that can even compete with home since I left. There truly is no place like home.
