Menu Plan: July 31st

How is it the very last day of July? How is Summer almost over already? Time to kick the memory making into high gear. Time to start buying back to school supplies and school shoes. I'm not ready for it to be over, but I am excited to see what the new school year brings.

Ever since seeing this article about What the World Eats, I have been fascinated with other people's shopping habits. Not in the judgy way, but just curious!  If we are friends on Instagram you probably already saw this, but I'm curious to see how often y'all go shopping! And how much you spend on groceries. I have known people who just buy whatever looks good and spend hundreds a week. And I know some of y'all budget like me. We spend about $150 a week. I realized today as we were checking out that my cart looked pitiful compared to others. Below is what we got today minus the meat and a few other things. There were the throw away plates, a bottle of oil and the secret loaf of fresh bread that smelled so good, it magically ended up in the cart. I shared a better look at it all on my Insta Stories too.

I'm determined to start this month off on the right foot. My fridge is cleaned out and restocked. And my menu is ready to go. I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone. Not one but three new recipes this week. One of them with quinoa. I have have a handful of friends encourage me to try it so here we go!

Its skillet week here I guess.  I'm not gonna lie, I usually use at least 3 pans every night so the thought of using only one is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. This Shrimp and Sausage Skillet looks so good. I was sold just by looking at the photos! Chicken Drumsticks were on sale so I grabbed a pack of them. We split the pack between two meals. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them as far as flavors go. This recipe for Tender Baked Chicken looks quite interesting. I'm a fan of condiments but using them as flavor is different.  Might give it a go. And I'm saving the scariest skillet for Thursday.  I don't know why quinoa intimidates me so much. Fingers crossed the boys and David don't toss me over board when I set this Turkey Taco Quinoa Skillet on the table! I kid.

What's on your menu this week? What are your thoughts on quinoa?
