Covid, Crying and a Complicated Decision

We all know how much I love wrapping up the week with some thankfulness.  But sitting down to collect little moments y'all, it might be a bit of a stretch.  The boys and I came up to Houston last week to get a few things done around the house.  David has been so busy with work that we havent' even gotten around to putting the house up for sale.  And the longer it takes the harder its been to let go.  Yeah, Im back to struggling with the idea of moving.  Don't judge me.  I am horrible about making big decisions, but this move has been one of the hardest I have ever made.  Walking in the house, even after getting blasted with hot stale air, it felt like coming home. David also has covid so, thats why we are still up here!  He was to sick to make the trip up here.

And so now I am back to square one.  Le sigh...

I don't know what we are going to do, but last night we talked until 3 am just trying out all the options and what ifs. Where are we happiest.  What schools work better. Where we would buy a house if we moved.  I don't think I have talked to David in such a serious manor in the whole 23 years we have been together.  No lie.  I also don't think we have ever been this unhappy.  Not with each other but just with life in general.

But today is supposed to be about all the happy things,  so lets cut out the doom and gloom and skip to the good part!  How about we share some happiness.

Halloween Dragonfly

I said there was a lot of crying.  One afternoon I was just so overwhelmed I sat in my hammock and sobbed.  There was a buzzing all around and I looked up to see this striped dragonfly swooping down at me.  I said hello.  Yes I talk to bugs,  nerd alert.  Well my friend landed on tall stem of grass and sat with me for hours.  It started raining and the wind was blowing but this guy held on for dear life.  I grabbed my camera and went out in the drizzle to get a few photos of him. He felt like a sign.  A reminder that even when life is trying to blow me away, all I gotta do is hold the hell on.  Eventually the storm passed and when the sun came out again, he took off.  But not before flying right over my shoulder.

I took Alex, to his Ortho appointment.  ON MY OWN.  Ok I had to uber, but I even did that myself.  So it might sound kinda silly to other parents who are like, "way to go Kim, you did your job". But being chronically ill has taken away these kinds of things.  I have never had the chance to drive my kid to an appointment.  I always have another adult driving me and "supervising" me whenever I leave home.  So maybe it is kinda silly, but I don't have a lot of independence and this felt like a big gulp of it.  It was nice.  Made me feel like a real mom!

Laying in bed listening to Anthony jamming out and singing bohemian rhapsody at the top of his lungs.  I was taught at a young age to be seen, not heard. Smile but don't talk. I never would have been able to blast music that loud and free in the middle of the night.  Hearing him sing and laugh made my heart so unbelievably happy!

Groceries were delivered the other day.  And the hobbits boys were happier than me.  I was only planning on staying the week so I didn't get much last week.  This time there were more snacks.  Even some pizza rolls.  Grocery delivery = lifesaver.  And I didn't have to ask anyone for a ride. So double win for me!

CinemaxTrashStationn

Hitting up a last minute movie last weekend before David left.  Not only did I get to see Thor, hello!, but while I was waiting for Alex to get out of the restroom I noticed the new trash/recycle bins.  I totally geeked out but I cant tell you how many times I have had to toss my drink cup still half full and felt awful.  Yeah, I think about how heavy trash bags at the theaters must be.  Half of it wasted drinks.  And then they went and added a compost bin too!  Swoon!

There were a few other small things that made me smile this week.

Shark Week started.  Its one of my most favorite weeks.

New growth on my plants.  I was sure they'd be dead after 2 weeks with no AC.

The neighbor being so excited to see Anthony.  Poor guy though we left without saying goodbye.

Waking up in my own bed.  Sucks that it was just me but its my bed!

The AC.  How did people ever survive Texas summers without air conditioning?

I finished another book. People we meet on Vacation.  Loved it too!

SO, maybe there was more happiness than I though there would be.  The big picture feels heavy and full of big decisions.  But when I cut the week up into all the little moments, the happiness just oozes out.  I really didn't think I would be able to come up with even a handful of things and then I couldn't stop.  A good reminder that life isn't as black and white as it seems sometimes.  Its full of so many colorful moments that we just need to take a second to see.  They are there, if you look for them.

What made you happy this week?

Puppies, Patio Time and Playing Bingo

Its Friday. This month has been a rough one. Most days I feel like I am barely keeping my head above water, but Im still here.  I woke up today feeling a little better.  A little more clear headed.  A little less sad.  And Im going to take that and run.  Im going to hold on to it as long as I can.

Fridays around here are saved for the good stuff.  And thats just what I need right now.  To stay focused on all the good and everything that is going right.  And even though I am struggling, I know that there is always something to be thankful for.  Sometimes you just got to dig deep to find it.

What's up, Weekend?

Today I'm linking up with Lindsay from The Flynnigans, Charlotte from My Pixie Blog and Beth from Coffee until Cocktails.  Every Friday we share all the things that we are happy, grateful and thankful for!  Here are a few things that made my list this week!

School, Summer and Something Fun

Happy Friday Everyone!  We are finally done with school and officially in Summer Mode.  The boys are still sleeping!  They asked to stay up super late last night to celebrate the end of school.  Which works for me because I was able to get some cleaning done while the dog ate and then watered plants while he was outside doing his business.  Now I just need to make a grocery list and finish up some house work before the weekend starts.

Curls, Coffee and Chicken Pot Pie

Well, this week blew though like a hurricane.  For us anyway.  Probably because I cleared out so much stuff in the garage and things from around the house that were just taking up space.  So much so that now the boys are just pointing to things and asking me if Im getting rid of that too!  Probably should slow down before there is nothing left.

But I can breath easier now.  I can also get in the car with out hitting a pile of bags in the garage.  I can also see the treadmill again.  I set walking everyday as a goal, but totally failed because there were bags and boxes on the treadmill.  Don't judge.  Its cleared and I will get back to it.  As soon as my feet start hurting from standing on the hard garage floor for two days.  Flat feet problems.  Anyways.

Grilling, Growing and Girl Time

Quarantine is messing with my mind.  Yesterday I was getting ready for bed and reminded myself to get up to take the trash out in the morning.  Like it was a Sunday!  Here I was ready to start the week.  Imagine my surprise a few minutes later when I was brushing my teeth and remembered what day it really was.

The boys have been grumpy and are like like emotion grenades. To be completely honest Im not sure if its their ages or being stuck at home because its not like they were super social anyways. But we do usually get out one day during the weekend to let them run off some energy and get a good seat in. Now weekends are super chill and well, we don't look forward to them as much either.

Cameras, Cleaning and Coconut Oreos

Weekends aren't the same when you are self quarantined and the city is on lockdown.  Most weekends I look forward to hopefully getting out of the house and going to the park or finding a new trail.  But now the weekends look more like, me catching up on cleaning while David is working or hanging out on the patio because my doctors have asked me to stay home and stay away from anyone not living in the house with me.  I have been spending most of the day out back.  Because eating, reading and napping are all better outside.

Hearts, Hummus and Happiness

Its Friday, I'm alive and my heart doesn't even hurt!  Oh man.  I hope this feeling never ends because I feel great.  I do feel a little sleepy after taking my meds this morning but it is still better than before.  So Im taking this and running.  But not fast because, I'm going to enjoy this calm heart!

Its been a hectic week but a good one.  I had my follow up on Wednesday and then today I have another quick appointment today.  But then I am officially calling it the weekend.  Again.  That just happened so fast.

Life, Laughs and Lunch

The weekend is here.  I know this is usually the part where I say something sarcastic but today I am just content with the fact that its Finally Friday.  Because I have been on weekend mode since Wednesday. With David working two jobs and the boys being busy with school stuff, we have all kinda just been missing each other. So David took a few days off from both jobs and we have been squeezing in all the time we can.  Plus a few doctor and dentist appointments.  Because thats how we do things around here.  It's been an interesting week for sure.  Filled with so much love and happiness.

What's up, Weekend? 11•15•19

Happy Friday Everyone!

This week has kinda just been one day crashing into another.  Well for me it has anyways.  I think most people call that one step forward and two steps back.  It was like every time I thought I was caught up, something would fall apart.  And now its Friday and Im walking in like Im being held together with duct tape.  Yup that pretty much sums it up.

Whats Up, Weekend? 11•1•19

You guys!  Its NOVEMBER!!!  I am dead tired after the most restless weird night ever.  Did everyone have a good Halloween?  We were out for a good while and the kids all got lots of goodies. And everyone loved Alex's costume.  I can't wait to see what he decides to be next year.  As long as I get a few more than 24 hr  notice.  Also, next Halloween is on a Saturday so that means it's going to be a party.  Hopefully the weather will be just as perfect as it was last night!

What's Up Weekend 9•27•19

Its Friday!  For some reason I keep thinking it's the last day of the month too.  I'm getting a little ahead of myself.  Probably because the weather forecast says we will be in the LOW 90s next week and I am so freaking excited!  Hopefully it actually happens, although, now that I typed it out loud, it probably wont.  Watch!  Oh well.  I'm just going to be happy that its the weekend.  It will be a busy one by the looks of it.

Whats Up, Weekend? 9•20•19

Oh sweet Friday.  The struggle was real this week.  But we made it!  The boys are off to school, the dogs are already napping off their breakfast and Im taking a quick break from my cleaning. Because I am staring at a basket full of clothes that need to be folded and put away.  Gross.  Laundry is my least favorite chore of all.  What chore is at the bottom of your list?

What's Up, Weekend? 8•3•19

Holy Weekend am I glad to see you!  Finally getting to finish up this post and it will be Saturday by the time I'm done with it!  Even though I have been trying to get it done ALL day.  In between house stuff, making phone calls and feeding everyone a hundred times today, I kept getting sidetracked.  I'm ready to clock out!  Wait, can moms even do that?  Probably not.  Although a little break time is needed every now and then.  Don't feel guilty about it either.  Take that coffee and a book and sit outside for a little bit!  That's what I do!  Maybe its getting in a good work out or heading to Target, with no littles in tow!  What ever it is, make sure it makes you happy.  In case you didn't catch my post from yesterday (check it out here), Happiness is what I'm all about this month!  But for now let's dial it back to just this week!

Whats up Weekend? 7•26•19

Happy Friday Everyone!  Oh wait... its Sunday!  My bad.  It was a crazy weekend.  The boys had friends sleep over one day after another.  I ran out of food.  David got sick and today is his Birthday.  Yeah.  Friends went home, I got groceries and the birthday boy is feeling a little better so, I'm sitting down at 11pm and seeing that I totally forgot to share this post.

July Goals and Mantras

I know we are already a good week plus some in to the the month so I'm a little late sharing my goals.  The last few weeks kinda threw us under the bus.  But I have a few weeks left to right it all and get things back to our new normal.  Or maybe just close to it.  That would be good enough for me.

I might not have smashed all the goals I set out to, but I think I did ok considering.  I managed to put a good dent in most of them.  This month goals should be pretty easy to cross off too as long as there are no more bumps in the road.  Here are this months goals and mantras.

June Goals and Mantras

Lets start this new month by pretending last month didn't happen therefor any goals that were set and not met, never really existed!  Cool?  OK cool.  Seriously though, I'm not even going to go though what I planned to do and what I didn't get done. It was a crazy month. But it's over.

So I'm just going to wipe the slate clean and call it good.  Happy JUNE everyone.  We have 2 days of school left.  And then its sweet freedom for the next 3 months!  Hello Summer Break!  I'm so excited!  Probably more excited than the boys are.  Hello guilt free late nights! And yes, sleeping in!  But more than anything I just love having my boys home!

As far as goals go I'm going to go a little easy on myself as we ease into the month.  I know the boys are going to be bored in a mater of days and there is still a lot going on so, I'm not about to push my luck.  So here is what I came up with.

What's up Weekend? 5•31•19

Who else is living for the weekends? Technically I'm just waiting for summer but the weekends are pretty awesome too!  The boys and I have been talking about our Summer Bucket List.  There are going to be so many roasted marshmallows!  I can't wait.

Whats up Weekend? 5•24•19

I made it!  Last week flew by so I wasn't surprised at how slow this week has crawled.  But that's all over now that its finally Friday!  And even though I have an itch in my throat that I'm hoping goes away and doesn't fester, because its going to be a busy, fun filled weekend.

When I am around to link up with the always amazing Lindsay, Beth and Charlotte from the Peaceful Posse its always a good day!  Taking the time to reflect on the last 7 days and look at all the good, despite all the bad is such a good way to let that crap go.  Nobody has time for that, so lets just take a look at all the things this week that made us happy and thankful!   Here's are a few of my bits of happiness.

What's up weekend 5•3•19

And just like that it is Friday!! I love it when that happens. Sure beats the weeks that drag on and on. It was a lazy, cloudy and drizzly week and probably went by so fast because I snuck in a nap most days. My body is just not feeling it. Between the headaches and the nosebleeds, Im drained. But I made it to the weekend so Im totally winning!

Whats Up Weekend? 4•5•19

Its been a few weeks since I have popped in for my usual Friday Happiness share.  I would jump on and start writing but I was waist deep in a mood and life happened.  Its been a crazy few weeks but I think this fog is lifting and Im the sunshine is coming back!  Literally!  These cold fronts keep rolling in like its still Winter!  Ugh.  I keep telling myself to live each day to the fullest and stop living for the weekend, but considering Im pretty much stuck at home all week, Weekends = Life!  Thats not to say this week wasn't a good one.  It was a great one even.
